After a great deal of soul searching, and following a gap of some 15 years, I decided to re-start the folk club at the White Lion.

Whilst I really enjoy the Wurzel Bush Folk Club, held at the British Legion, Heath Lane, monthly, a huge part of me has always lived, 'spiritually' in the White Lion.

Being involved in Brinklow Folk Weekend for the last two years brought home to me the feeling that Mid-Warwickshire lacked a showcase club. A club or venue where new acts could 'try out' or visiting acts could book themselves in for a good long spot to 'showcase' themselves to the area.

Ever since the Wurzel Bush reopened there has been a serious lack of floor singers, possibly brought about by the 'concert format' when the club re-opened. Perhaps this club is the way forward - it certainly feels right to me.

The club runs on a non admission charge basis. The only proceeds available towards artistes expenses (without any exceptions) is a collection of goodwill offerings from the audience. This varies from week to week.
